KC Restaurant Association Names Top 2013 Restaurateur, Company

The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association has named Alan Gaylin its restaurateur of the year and A.J. Goss Distributors Inc. its company of the year.

Gaylin, A.J. Goss and a handful of other award recipients will be honored at the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA) and Missouri Restaurant Association’s inaugural ball on Jan. 11 at the Westin Crown Center.

Gaylin leads Bread & Butter Concepts, the ownership group behind Kansas City area restaurants that include BRGR Kitchen + Bar, Urban Table, Gram & Dun and Taco Republic. His previous work includes a stint as senior vice president of operations for Kansas City-based restaurant Houlihan’s.

A.J. Goss is a trucking and hauling company that has been a “longtime and committed partner to the restaurant community and its members,” according to a GKCRA statement.

The association’s inaugural ball is designed to celebrate people and companies making an impact on the local restaurant industry. It will also serve as a fundraiser for the GKCRA’s educational foundation, which supports grants and scholarships for students pursuing careers in the hospitality industry and culinary arts.
