Petition Against KCI Consolidation Moves To City Council

Supporters of a petition designed to force a municipal vote on the future of Kansas City International Airport have officially gathered enough signatures to move their initiative forward.

City clerk Marvin Sanders said Friends of KCI, a group opposed to the $1.2 billion proposal to consolidate the airport’s three-terminal layout into a single, multistory terminal, gathered more than enough signatures to move its petition ahead after the group initially fell short of the threshold.

The Kansas City Council will hold its next meeting Thursday.
