Emerson Closes On $571 Million EGS Electrical Group Deal

Emerson announced Tuesday it has closed on the acquisition of the 44.5 percent of EGS Electrical Group that it did not already own and renamed the business unit Appleton Group. Emerson, a St. Louis-based maker of electronics and power equipment, bought the stake in EGS from SPX Corporation for $571 million in a deal first announced in early December.

Emerson had jointly held EGS with SPX since 1997 and was responsible for operational management and control. EGS had annual revenues of more than $500 million.
