The 13 acres Landmark Investment Group purchased in 2011 on Research Medical Center’s Brookside Campus in Kansas City will soon be home to $70 million worth of development.

Construction of a $7 million senior living facility, Rockhill Greens Senior Living, will begin after Jan. 18, when federal affordable housing tax credits are expected to be secured. Construction will start on the site of an old medical office building that was imploded in April.

Developers expect the 46-unit complex to catalyze further development in the area. Landmark envisions a campus that will eventually include different tiers of senior living options, plus other housing, restaurants, retail and other commercial uses.

Tony Krsnich, the managing partner for Landmark Investment Group, said that the senior living project was much needed in the area because many of the elderly are sent to Johnson County, which is about half an hour away.
