General Motors Co.’s Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kan., soon will produce Internet-enabled cars. The 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, which is manufactured at the plant, will be among several GM vehicles featuring OnStar 4G LTE via AT&T Inc.’s network.

The technology debuted this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Also to be built in Chevy’s Impala and Volt, the Wi-Fi hotspot will allow several passengers to connect devices to AT&T’s network. Eventually, Chevy plans to offer the option in the Equinox, Silverado and Spark. Existing AT&T customers can add their vehicle to their account’s data package or create a stand-alone data plan.
