Honeywell To Cut KC Workforce, Slightly

Honeywell International Inc., which operates the National Nuclear Security Administration campus in Kansas City, plans to reduce its local workforce by 84 in late March. The layoffs are due to Honeywell’s recent move into a new, smaller and more efficient facility, as well as changes in federally funded programs.

Honeywell has 2,600 employees at the Kansas City plant, ranking it as the area’s fifth-largest manufacturer and the 16th-largest private-sector employer, according to Kansas City Business Journal‘s lists. The plant constructs the non-nuclear components for U.S. nuclear weapons.
