Developer Buys Buildings In Long-Vacant Business Park In KC Area

NorthPoint Development has purchased two buildings that were previously part of the 700,000-square-foot Benchmark Home Furnishings complex in Olathe, Kan., and will convert the space into a business park.

An executive with Jones Lang LaSalle Americas Inc. said the two buildings represent one of the first purchases from a new NorthPoint industrial fund with a capacity for $100 million in commercial property acquisitions and construction in the Kansas City area. The buildings, one 240,000 square feet and the other 160,000 square feet, have stood vacant for nearly a decade.
