St. Louis-based Peabody Energy reported $512.6 million in losses on revenues of $7.01 billion in 2013. The company’s losses were down from the previous year’s $575.1 million.  Revenues declined 13.2 percent from 2012 levels, a change attributed to lower coal prices in the U.S. and Australia.

The company tallied $340 million in savings in 2013, and also cut its capital investments by 67 percent.

In a statement, Peabody’s CFO said that the company has increased cash flow and paid $600 million in debt, and will continue to focus on improving its financial position.
