Monsanto Buys Soil Analysis Firm

Monsanto Co.’s acquisition of agriculture tech firm Solum Inc. further expands the St. Louis company’s technology offerings aimed at helping farmers maximize their harvests.

The soil analysis business will operate under Monsanto’s Climate Corp. unit, which it bought in November for $930 million. Monsanto didn’t disclose the financial terms of its deal with Solum, but officials said all employees in the soil testing business were offered jobs.
