Elan Polo Inc., which designs, sources and delivers more than 45 million pairs of shoes annually, plans to begin shoe production solely for Wal-Mart in a new plant in Georgia at the end of April.
Elan Polo is teaming with McPherson Manufacturing to produce “injection molded” shoes for the giant retailer, according to a co-CEO at Elan-Polo. Wal-Mart operates 11,000 stores worldwide.
Prior to the new deal with Wal-Mart, Elan-Polo was producing all of its shoes overseas. The St. Louis-based company, which has a 35-year history of providing shoes to Wal-Mart stores, reported revenue of $280 million in 2012.
