St. Louis County Packaging Plant Anticipates Expansion

EnviroPAK Corp., which uses recycled newspaper mixed with water to create paper packaging trays, plans to expand in Earth City within the next year because the demand for environmentally friendly secure packaging is growing, particularly big-ticket items.

The molded trays are custom-made on site to create packaging designed to hold electronics equipment and other large items in place during shipping.

A spokesman said EnviroPak has grown 102 percent in the last two years and now makes 35 million packages annually and is outgrowing its 125,000-square-foot plant. The company was waiting for information from an engineering study before planning an expansion but that company officials hope to expand somewhere close to the existing plant if possible.
