Washington U. Economist Murray Weidenbaum Dies

Washington University Professor and economist Murray Weidenbaum, who served as assistant secretary of the Treasury from 1969 to 1971, has died at age 87. Weidenbaum also served from 1981 to 1982 as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers for President Ronald Reagan.

Weidenbaum was chairman and founder of the Center for the Study of American Business at Washington University. He was teaching a class there until about three weeks ago, when health issues forced him to stop.
