Google will expand Google Fiber coverage in south Kansas City, Grandview and Raytown in all but two neighborhoods. The Mountain View, Calif.-based internet company’s TV subscriptions and ultrafast broadband will be available in 73 neighborhoods in the southern third of Kansas City.

The difficulty of stringing fiber optic cables through varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. Google requires between 5 percent and 25 percent of residents in a neighborhood to put down a deposit for that neighborhood to qualify for Fiber installation.

Google has said Fiber installations in qualifying neighborhoods will be completed by the end of this year. It’s uncertain when Google Fiber will negotiate with other suburbs in the Kansas City metro, as there’s still a lack of contracts in Overland Park and Independence.
