Fired Physician Sues Kansas City Hospital

A high-profile physician is suing Saint Luke’s Hospital, saying he was wrongfully fired in March as a leader in its kidney and liver transplant programs. Dr. Henry Randall claims he was pushed out over what his lawyer describes as a “turf war for patients.” A representative for the Kansas City hospital said in a statement that the hospital has just learned of the suit and it is their policy not to comment on pending litigation. According to the petition, Randall was recruited in 2010 to create a liver transplant program and to revive the hospital’s ailing kidney transplant program, which had been put on probation by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
