The John Knox Village retirement community in Lee’s Summit, Mo. is spending $90 million on a redevelopment plan.
The village, which was started nearly 45 years ago, currently includes 400 single-family homes and villas, 1,150 independent-living apartments, 119 assisted-living apartments, 64 memory-care apartments and 430 beds in a facility that provides skilled nursing and advanced memory care. The redevelopment phase will be completed in 2017 and will add 163 independent-living units.
The complex’s president said the redevelopment will make the village more appealing to a growing number of aging baby boomers.
