Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Alleging A-B Waters Down Beer

A federal judge has dismissed lawsuits filed by beer drinkers in eight states that alleged Anheuser-Busch InBev watered down several of its top brands, including Budweiser and Michelob. Consumers filed lawsuits in early 2013 alleging the alcohol claim on Budweiser and other A-B InBev labels were overstated and violated state laws, including the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act. The lawsuits were consolidated in an Ohio federal court. The judge on Monday dismissed the lawsuit, finding that the brewer’s labeling fell within federal guidelines that permit beers to have a tolerance of 0.3 percent above or below the amount stated on the label.
