The Sprint Mobile Health Accelerator’s inaugural class was a triumph, so the program will welcome another group of startups in the spring and recruiting will begin soon, Sprint Corp. CEO Dan Hesse said.

“No other industry will be more transformed by wireless than health care,” Hesse said. “These startups show the great potential for using technology advances to improve health and promote wellness.”

Hesse said he was impressed by the 10 startups at the mentor-led accelerator program, which started in March. Led by accelerator group Techstars, the companies tackled wellness, chronic illness, animal and other health challenges through such tech solutions as hardware, software platforms, big data and mobile applications. They pitched their companies to investors and about 1,700 people at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
