Indian Motorcycle Rides Again, Opens Stores In St. Charles, Olathe

Indian Motorcycle Company is opening a store in Olathe after over nearly fifty years out of the motorcycle business.    After being added to Polaris’ brands in 2011, the brand has begun to be revitalized and is aiming to compete with Harley-Davidson. The new model is designed much like the original vintage models, and seeks to draw in some of the motorcycles past collectors and design enthusiasts as customers.

The company once had movie stars as customers and boasted a successful array of motorcycles, but World War I lowered the company’s business and created more competition between Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles, which eventually led the company to declare bankruptcy in 1953.
