Tesla Expanding Charging Station Network Designed By KC-Area Firm

Overland Park, Kan., engineering giant Black & Veatch is working with electrical vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors Inc. to build a network of more than 400 charging stations across the U.S. by the end of 2015 and build networks in parts of Europe and China.

For the past year, Black & Veatch worked with Tesla to design and build a proprietary network of “supercharger” charging stations for Tesla vehicles. The companies built a network of about 100 stations that would allow a Tesla owner to drive to Miami from Seattle or to New York from Los Angeles.

The COO of Black & Veatch’s smart integrated infrastructure services division said the full nationwide build-out is now underway.
