Kansas City’s Full Employment Council and Think Big Partners are putting a $500,000 grant from the White House Office of Science and Technology toward a program to train unemployed adults in information technology.

The program, which is expected to launch in August, will provide classes and on-the-job training through teaching partnerships with colleges like University of Central Missouri and workplace arrangements with employers like the University of Kansas Hospital and Air Charter Team.

Kansas City is one of only three cities, along with Minneapolis and Louisville, to have programs selected for the grant.
