Carondelet Health’s three senior care facilities in the Kansas City area will join a new nationwide network of 34 senior care facilities run by Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic, nonprofit health system.

The announcement of the Ascension Health Senior Care Network comes one day after Carondelet agreed to sell its two Kansas City-area hospitals, St. Joseph Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center, to Prime Health Care Services.

Ascension said its combined Health Senior Care operations will be the second-largest nonprofit long-term care provider in the United States, consisting of some 5,568 beds.
