St. Louis Boeing unit lands $250 million NATO contract

NATO has awarded the Boeing Co. a quarter-billion dollar contract to outfit 13 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft with flight decks and avionics. Boeing’s Global Services and Support unit, which is part of the Boeing Defense, Space & Security unit in Hazelwood, will be in charge of the project, but a location for the work has yet to be decided.

Boeing Defense, Space & Security employs 15,000 employees in the St. Louis area, making it one of the region’s biggest employers.
