Missouri PSC chief calls for steps to improve, expand broadband access

Missouri Public Service Commissioner Scott Rupp submitted a letter to the Federal Communications Commission last week in response to the agency’s request for comment on proposed changes to the Connect America Fund, which was established to help carriers expand their broadband coverage to high-cost areas.

Rupp supported increasing download speeds from 5 Mbps to 10 Mbps as a requirement for CAF funding. He also called for greater broadband deployment flexibility for carriers that made a statewide commitment, and for an accurate process whereby census blocks would be knocked down where competition existed.
