New Sprint Corp. chief executive Marcelo Claure, in his first day on the job Monday, briefed Sprint employees in a letter, which the Overland Park, Kan.-based telecom company made available.

Claure said in his letter that he will hold a company-wide “town hall” on Thursday “to share my thoughts and vision for making Sprint the wireless carrier of choice.” Claure also said his family will move to the Kansas City area from Miami, where he spent the last 17 years at Brightstar, a wireless company he founded.

Employees bid adieu to departing CEO Dan Hesse, who had led the company since 2007, on Friday during a 90-minute sendoff event.
