House prices in Q2 rise in St. Louis, fall in Missouri overall

The Federal Housing Finance Agency’s purchase-only index, seasonally adjusted, shows that home prices in the St. Louis metropolitan area have risen for seven straight quarters, continuing a slow but steady recovery that began in 2011. In Missouri overall, housing prices dropped slightly in the second quarter but are up 2.7 percent in the past year.

Prices in St. Louis are now up 3.6 percent in the past year and 0.4 percent in the past five years. Prices in Kansas City are up 3.25 percent for the quarter and 5.77 percent for the year. Nationally, house prices rose 0.8 percent in the fourth quarter and are up 5.2 percent in the past year.
