More than half of worldwide animal health, diagnostics and pet food sales come from companies that have a strategic location in the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor, according to a survey by Axxiom Consulting LLC. The KC Animal Health Corridor launched in 2006, and its boundaries stretch from Manhattan, Kan., to Columbia. Since its inception, 31 animal health companies have located within the corridor and have pledged to create 1,368 new jobs.
This week, New Zealand animal health company Simcro Ltd. announced it will establish its North American headquarters in Lawrence, Kan. The company, which develops pharmaceutical delivery systems for companion animals and livestock, expects to begin hiring new employees immediately.
