Software company announces layoffs after opening new KC-area office

Days after 750 staffers arrived at the company’s new Lenexa, Kan.-based headquarters, Perceptive Software Inc.’s CEO sent an email to staff announcing layoffs and the closing of offices in Massachusetts and California. The company declined to comment on how many people in the Kansas City area would be affected by the layoffs, saying its parent company, Lexmark International Inc., has a policy to not comment on internal human resource documents.

“These difficult steps are necessary in order to align our organization to achieve profitable growth,” Perceptive CEO Scott Coons wrote.
