Kansas City auto market gets another big supplier

Challenge Manufacturing Co. will join eight other automotive suppliers that have been attracted to the Kansas City area since June 2013 by the region’s expanding Ford Motor Co. and General Motors assembly plants. The Michigan-based company has leased a 351,520-square-foot building at KCI Intermodal BusinessCentre near Kansas City International Airport, real estate sources told the Kansas City Business Journal.

The number of jobs at the site has not been reported. But to give an idea, plans for a new 430,000-square-foot Challenge Manufacturing plant in Lansing, Mich., call for 180 new jobs.
