St. Louis-area hospitals outlined steps they’ve taken this week to respond to the Ebola epidemic. At SSM Health facilities, patients are being greeted by signs that direct them to put on a mask if they are experiencing any flu-like symptoms. Patients are also told to immediately alert a staffer if they have flu symptoms and have traveled to West Africa recently.
Administrators at St. Louis University Hospital sent out a memo Monday to further educate staffers about Ebola and how to prepare. Providers at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the city’s Central West End are both asking about travel regardless of symptoms.
