Boeing negotiating helicopter sale with Brazilian army

Boeing Co. is in talks with the Brazilian army over a deal for CH-47 Chinook helicopters.

A Boeing spokesman confirmed the negotiations, but said the potential order was small. The Brazilian Army abandoned a plan to buy Boeing fighter jets last year when documents leaked by Edward Snowden indicated that U.S. intelligence officials had spied on the Brazilian president.

Earlier this year, the Brazilian government purchased $169 million worth of Boeing-produced missiles. Boeing Defense, Space & Security is based in the St. Louis area.
