Kansas City construction contractor Centric Projects often holds events for its employees, many of whom work in the field. They hold holiday parties, summer picnics and have gone to ballgames in the past. One employee suggested, almost as a joke, that owner Richard Wetzel make a Royals baseball game their next outing. Wetzel agreed, and so all 49 employees will be going to the World Series game Tuesday night, Kansas City’s first in 29 years. Wetzel isn’t saying what the whim has set back the company. But standing room only tickets were going for between $500 and $600 late Friday, which puts the tab above $20,000. It’s potluck for the tailgating before the game.
