Express Scripts reports strong Q3 profits
Express Scripts Holding Co., the nation’s largest pharmacy benefits manager and one of the St. Louis area’s largest employers, reported a third-quarter profit of $589.1 million, up 34 percent from the prior-year period. Revenues totaled $25.8 billion, down from $25.9 billion in the prior-year quarter. Home delivery and specialty revenue rose 4 percent, to $10 billion, while network revenue fell 4 percent, to $14.7 billion. Company officials attributed that to lower claims volume and an increase in the network generic fill rate and lower claims volume in general.
