IT security firm FishNet to merge with Denver company

FishNet Security, an Overland Park, Kan.-based IT security firm, has agreed to a merger with Denver-based Accuvant Inc. Financial terms of the deal, which is subject to antitrust review, were not disclosed.

Entrepreneur Gary Fish founded FishNet in his Blue Springs basement in 1996, and the company has grown to about 700 employees. Accuvant also has about 700 employees.

Accuvant CEO Dan Burns will serve as chief executive of the new company. FishNet CEO Rich Fennessy will remain with the company as an adviser as the two firms integrate.

The combined company will begin with 60 offices in the U.S. and Canada. The firm’s name, headquarters and other details have not been determined.
