St. Louis nursing home workers seek union representation

Workers at several St. Louis-area nursing homes are looking to organize and have turned to the Service Employees International Union for help. SEIU on Monday filed petitions with the National Labor Relations Board seeking representation elections at two facilities: Crestwood Health Care Center and Ackert Park Skilled Care Community.

The workers there seek to improve wages, working conditions and quality of care. The union would start bargaining for contracts on behalf of its members if it wins the elections.
