Ameren earnings dip due to milder temperatures

St. Louis-based Ameren Corp. reported a third-quarter profit of $294 million, down 3.6 percent from the $305 million reported in the same quarter last year.

Third-quarter diluted earnings per share from continuing operations were $1.20 in 2014, compared to $1.25 in 2013, reflecting milder temperatures in the recently completed quarter, the company said.

“Despite very mild summer weather in the third quarter, we remain on track to deliver solid earnings results in 2014 as we continue to execute our plan,” Warner Baxter, chairman, president and CEO of Ameren, said in a statement.

Ameren Missouri’s earnings for the period were $222 million, compared with $238 million in the prior-year quarter.
