Ford rolls out new F-150, KC production to follow soon

Ford rolled out the first of its new, aluminum F-150 pickup trucks yesterday in Michigan, and production of the vehicles at the company’s Kansas City-area plant isn’t far behind.

Ford Vice President of North American Manufacturing Bruce Hettle said the company will begin production of the new F-150 atat the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo “as we move into the end of 2014 and into the first quarter of next year.”

A facility is being built at the Claycomo plant that’s like the one now in operation in Michigan. The new truck requires a new body shop and stamping technology, which are being prepared in Kansas City.
