The United Way of Greater St. Louis exceeded its annual fundraising goal, raising $73 million to set a record for the highest total in the agency’s history. Fourteen companies raised $1 million or more. Edward Jones became the first company to give $5 million to the campaign. Monsanto gave $4 million or more, and Enterprise Holdings and Anheuser-Busch both donated $3 million or more.
The largest contributions to the campaign included $11.1 million from the St. Louis Regional Business Council, which represents more than 100 area firms.
All told, more than 2,500 companies and 150,000 people participated in the campaign, which surpassed its goal of $72.5 million by $500,000.
