Sprint CEO Claure: Kansas City’s charm helps attract talent

Marcelo Claure, CEO of Sprint Corp., made his first major public appearance in Kansas City when he spoke to 1,400 area businesspeople at the Kansas City Area Development Council’s annual meeting.

Despite Sprint’s recent decision to cut 3,700 jobs, Claure reassured attendees that he intends to help the Kansas City economy grow. Claure not only hopes to return Sprint customer service jobs to the area, but he is also encouraging Sprint’s business partners to establish U.S. headquarters in Kansas City.

Claure, who has been the CEO of Sprint for three months, said that he has felt welcomed by Midwestern kindness after moving to the city. He said that the quality of the local workforce will be a factor in bringing more jobs to the Kansas City community.
