Consumer group seeks more health insurance data, files suit

The Consumers Council of Missouri says the federal government didn’t disclose enough information about 2015 health insurance rates, and the consumer advocacy group has filed a lawsuit it hopes will help prevent the problem from arising in the future.

The group filed a suit last month against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services seeking the release of rates in advance of open enrollment, which started Saturday. Some information was released before enrollment started, but the council said it wasn’t enough.

U.S. attorneys last week submitted a court filing asking for the council’s lawsuit to be dismissed and denying its accusations.
