Nordyne continues process of shuttering Missouri facilities

Nordyne Inc. is progressing toward the planned closure of a pair of Missouri factories that once employed upwards of 700 people.

The O’Fallon-based maker of heating and cooling equipment will shutter its Poplar Bluff plant, which once employed 500 people, next month. The company will begin closing its Boonville plant next month and finish that process by June, affecting about 240 workers.

Nordyne announced last year it would consolidate its Missouri plants at a new facility in Mexico.

A company spokeswoman said the number of Nordyne workers in the St. Louis region won’t change. The company employs about 200 people at its O’Fallon headquarters and owns a warehouse in St. Louis.
