MU receives $1 million gift to support community journalism

The University of Missouri School of Journalism received a $1 million gift to supplement the Walter B. Potter Fund for Innovation in Local Journalism, according to a university news release.

The fund, established in 2010, supports teaching and research focused on journalism and newspapers in small towns and neighborhoods.

Walter Potter, Jr., of Falls Church, Va., gave the gift to honor his father Walter Potter, Sr., a journalist and graduate of the school.
