Kansas City homebuilding hits seven-year high

Homebuilding activity in Kansas City during October hit its highest monthly mark since before the recession, the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City said.

The organization said 465 permits for single-family home construction were issued in October, which was the highest total for a single month since 597 permits were issued in October 2007.

The year-to-date total of single-family construction permits is 3,591, which is 129 more than were issued at this time last year. Multifamily units are also up, to 3,246 this year from 2,493 through the first 10 months of 2013.
