Thanksgiving offers early start to strong projected holiday shopping

Around Missouri and across the U.S., consumers got a head start on Black Friday by beginning their bargain hunting on Thursday evening, taking advantage of the earlier arrival of discounts and special offers.

The National Retail Federation predicted 25.6 million shoppers would take advantage of Thanksgiving Day sales. And, with unemployment down and gas prices low, many economists and retail analysts are predicting a strong holiday season for retailers.
