Sprint Corp.’s cut-your-bill-in-half promotion is helping the Overland Park, Kan.-based telecom company reverse subscriber losses, CEO Marcelo Claure told investors.
Claure didn’t provide specific numbers, but he said the promotion, which offers 50 percent discounts to customers who leave Verizon or AT&T to sign up for Sprint service, helped the company gain more customers than it lost over the last three months of 2014.
Claure’s comments came the same day that T-Mobile US Inc., which is the No. 4 U.S. wireless carrier, said it added 8.3 million customers in 2014. That would be enough to match the 55 million subscribers that No. 4 Sprint had reported in late September.
