Carthage company opening KC facility, hiring 50 at growing Ford supplier hub

Leggett & Platt Commercial Vehicle Products plans to open a facility in Kansas City’s Hunt Midwest SupTropolis to install parts on Ford Motor Co.’s Transit van, employing about 50 people.

Leggett & Platt CVP, a unit of Carthage-based Leggett & Platt, will become the seventh Ford supplier to locate in Hunt Midwest’s underground complex. Ford builds its transit van at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, about two miles from the facility.

Leggett & Platt will lease 72,000 square feet in the underground caves, including a 13.5-acre parking lot that can hold 1,200 vehicles.
