Despite coal’s struggles, Peabody’s Boyce has optimistic outlook

For the coal industry, a combination of factors including global oversupply, cheap natural gas and concerns over climate change have fueled an extended downturn and cast doubt on the future.

Despite those issues, coal will continue to dominate world energy markets for years to come. And Greg Boyce, the CEO of St. Louis-based Peabody Energy, argues that his company is in the best position of all U.S. producers to take advantage of continued demand for coal.
