Report: Google to offer wireless service using Sprint network

Google plans to sell mobile phone plans directly to customers and manage their calls and mobile data over Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks, according to a report from technology news site The Information.
Under the deal, Google would buy wholesale access to Overland Park, Kan.-based Sprint’s mobile voice and data networks, according to The Information’s sources. Sprint has similar arrangements with Virgin Mobile, Freedom Pop, Ting and others, according to a Kansas City Business Journal report.
Sprint’s stock jumped Tuesday following news of the potential deal, closing up 5.5 percent at $4.39 per share.
