Construction on an apartment complex designed to attract creative and entrepreneurial tenants will begin near the north end of Kansas City’s streetcar line. The complex, which will be called The Columbus Park Lofts, serves as the first phase of a $70 million redevelopment project in the area.

Work on the lofts, which will include five buildings with a total of 108 units, is set to begin in July. The $19 million project is slated for completion by fall 2016.

The project is being developed by Columbus Park Developers LC, which also has developmental rights on a 22-acre portion of the Columbus Park Neighborhood, and Prairie Fire Development Group, which was recently brought on as a 50-50 partner for the first-phase complex.

The design of the lofts by Gastinger Walker Harden + BeeTriplett Buck and Clockwork Architecture and Design are intended to include amenities for the modern creative entrepreneur.
