More than three dozen building owners in the St. Louis area have signed on to the “25 by 20” pledge, an effort to reduce energy use by 25 percent by the year 2020.
Some of the region’s tallest buildings and largest employers, including Metropolitan Square, Bank of America Plaza, Express Scripts and Washington University have joined the cause. The campaign is backed by the St. Louis Regional Chamber and the U.S. Green Building Council’s Missouri Gateway Chapter.
The goal of the project falls in line with St. Louis’ sustainability plan, which calls for a 25 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emission by 2020. Most of those emissions are produced by powering buildings.
