Ford adding 900 jobs at Claycomo plant to produce F-150
Ford Motor Co. is adding 900 jobs at its Kansas City Assembly Plant to keep up with surging demand for its F-150 pickup truck.
The Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker will add a third shift to produce the new, aluminum F-150, bringing the number of hourly employees at the Claycomo plant to a record 6,450.
Sales of the F-150 have rebounded since the recession, and Ford saw a 30 percent spike in sales of the truck last month compared to January 2014.
The Claycomo jobs are the centerpiece of a larger hiring spree by the company, which is expected to announce today that it’s adding a total of 1,550 jobs nationwide.
